On May 6, 2006 The MTLA Helmet Safety Campaign event in Gaylord at the Call of the Wild Museum fitted 165 helmets, inspected and repaired bikes, and taught dozens of kids bike safety and the rules of the road.
Co-sponsors were the folks from Atkinson, Petruska, Kozma & Hart; the Otsego Memorial Hospital; the Gaylord City Police; Otsego County EMS/Rescue; Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency; Latitude 45 Cycle & Sport; and 5/3 Bank.
About 30 people were lined up waiting for helmets before 10 a.m.
OCEMS also provided goodie bags for the first 100 kids.
